Tight leather shoes CAN be stretched to a certain extent (usually half to one size in width) using a dedicated shoe stretcher plus stretching solution, or a cobbler's stretching technique. Genuine leather stretches better than bonded leather; overstretching ruins the shape, so there are limits.

How to stretch them: (1) use a shoe stretcher combined with a leather-stretching spray or solution, leave it under tension for 24–48 hours, and repeat until they fit — effective for tightness across the width or instep, or at localized pressure points (using spot plugs); (2) a cobbler can also perform professional heat stretching. Keep in mind: shoes can only be stretched moderately — the length can't be increased significantly; suede and thin leathers require extra care; overstretching leaves shoes slack and out of shape. For mildly tight shoes, conditioning the leather to soften it also helps them break in.
