Cracked or faded leather sofas and car seats can mostly be restored if the leather is genuine or the upholstery base is still sound: cleaning, softening, color restoration, and color sealing. Deep cracks through the base, or PU upholstery that has fully peeled, can only be improved — hard to return to like-new, and sometimes reupholstering is the answer.

Seat leather deteriorates from sunlight, heat (in cars), sweat and lack of conditioning. The restoration process: deep cleaning → moisturizing to keep the leather supple → crack repair (filler) → color restoration with specialized leather dyes → color sealing and a protective coat. Genuine leather and semi-PU (bonded) leather give different results: genuine leather restores more durably, while a PU-covered seat whose coating has rotted and peeled in patches will not hold a new coat well — consider reupholstering. Large surfaces require an in-person assessment for a quote.
