Suede fades as friction, sun, and dust wear down and dull the nap. The process: clean with a suede-specific solution → let dry → brush to raise the nap → dye or spray with suede-specific color in the right tone → brush again for evenness → finish with a protective waterproofing spray. Never use smooth-leather polish or cream on suede. Bald, glazed areas (nap completely worn away) can't regain their texture — the color can only be roughly evened out. Light-colored or blotchy suede is harder to treat.
